Mediterranean Mudroom
Once a small, underutilized space with no built-in cabinets and only a few floating shelves, this room has been transformed into a highly functional and aesthetically pleasing mudroom and laundry room. The side-by-side washer and dryer were replaced with a sleek, space-saving LG Washtower, and cabinets were added throughout the room to provide ample storage for shoes, jackets, and laundry supplies.
The color scheme of soft warm white mixed with a soft blue was inspired by the Italian floor tiles, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. The circle door styles, a classic French style, were chosen to match the interior doors of the rest of the house, and center hardware pulls sourced from the UK add a touch of Mediterranean style.
The LG Washtower, the most space-saving combo on the market, fits seamlessly into the design. Four cylinder lights hang from the ceiling, continuing the French style and providing ample illumination.
Unique features and decorations abound in this renovated space. A Louis XIV console table and a large curved top mirror add a touch of class, while a bench nook with a quartz top provides a practical place to sit and put on shoes. Three hooks handle regularly used jackets, and the entire space is covered with cabinets and a textured neutral wallpaper, which adds both style and durability.
Now, this room feels classy and luxurious. It’s a space that welcomes the homeowners every day, meeting a high list of requirements despite its small size. Challenges such as hiding all the plumbing work for the laundry were addressed with innovative solutions like placing it under the sink cabinet and adding an access path in the pantry cabinet to the left of the washer dryer.
This renovation story serves as a testament to the power of good design and careful planning. Even the smallest spaces can be transformed into beautiful, functional areas that meet a multitude of needs. Welcome to the new era of mudroom and laundry room design.
